Shakesville: The MRA Mirror
"Of course on this side of the mirror, I don't see anything like that leveled at men accused of rape—including those who are genuinely accused, tried, and convicted. But rape victims face all of it. So no, I don't find the problems all that comparable. It beggars my imagination that someone can seriously believe there are as many women who voluntarily put themselves through it for no reason as there are men who decide they can get away with rape. But that's the trouble with mirrors: They don't show us the real world, but a back to front version of it. Maybe MRAs should try the window instead."
No Cookies For Me: It's good to know that women at *either* extreme can expect shaming...
"Don't do it. Just don't. Because the odds are really good that what you're about to do is make some ignorant, superficial insult about another woman's body. A woman that you probably don't know, will probably never know, and about whom you're probably woefully uneducated about. You're thinking about posting how unhealthy she probably is? And about how your disgust is justified because you're really concerned about the health implications? Yeah, that's bullshit. You're more than likely not her doctor, so you're really not in a position to give her health advice."
Dr Petra Boynton I Blog I Standing up for strippers
"I’ve always found it distasteful that women who are supposedly standing up for the rights of other women actually invade their places of work and cause disruption. Nothing sisterly about that at all. Good for those protesters who took a stand and made it clear they weren’t supporting a march that allows one group of priviledged women to make claims on reclaiming their night, while excluding other women in the process."
Steve the Penguin: You cannot afford it!
Heh. Zeitgeist.
Would you…? « Better burn that dress, sister.
"See guys, some of you need telling that there’s a line. I’m wearing my low cut top because I look good in it and I know people generally agree. You can like me in my top, you can think I look awesome, I’ll let you. Make the eye contact if you want, smile, whatever. But you know what? Don’t make me uncomfortable. Don’t make me feel awkward, do not fucking make me nervous in a pub in early afternoon. That’s plain bad manners. And certainly do not feel like you’re fucking entitled to keep on going, keep making the comments, call me a slag and trap me in a damn corner."
